COMPLEX SKILLS in Protected PCI

Introduction

There is a worldwide increase in complex percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI). Many of the patients treated have very unfavourable cardiovascular risk conditions which, in addition to the anatomical complexity of the coronary lesions, must be considered separately.

In some of these patients, the risk of haemodynamic instability increases accordingly during and after PCI. For these high-risk patients, there is often a relevant clinical benefit, which, however, must be weighed against the periinterventional risk in each individual case. Therefore, cardiovascular support systems play an increasing role.
